Hey Atlanta, we are pleased to help announce that maestro pizzaiolo Luca Varuni has launched the second outpost of one of the best pizzerias in the city, Varuni Napoli KSM, which is now open at Krog Street Market. Krog Street Market is a 9-acre mixed-use development in Atlanta, located along the BeltLine trail at Edgewood Avenue in Inman Park which opened in Summer 2014 and is home to some of the best eats in Atlanta. Varuni Napoli joins the fray with a stall located at the south end of the market adjacent to Jeni’s Ice Cream, Ticonderoga Club, and Makimono.

The modern, 800 square-foot space features an open-concept kitchen behind the bar, highlighted by a tiled wood-fired oven designed by renowned third generation Italian oven-maker Stefano Ferrara. The handmade brick oven, imported directly from Italy, will infuse each pizza with one-of-a-kind flavor as pizzaiolos engage with diners and market visitors throughout the cooking process.

“The new Varuni Napoli stall at Krog Street Market reminds me of the traditional Italian markets I grew up with in Naples,” says Varuni. “I am excited to add to the already lively character of the market by interacting with guests to make each experience in the space positive, memorable and, most importantly, delizioso.”The menu at Varuni Napoli KSM will feature nine pizza favorites from the restaurant’s original location in Morningside, along with items exclusive to the market, like the Krog Street Market Special, a fried pizza stuffed with fresh mozzarella, pepperoni, mushrooms, nduja and Pecorino Romano. Pizzas at the new stall will be served slightly smaller than at the original location – about 12 inches in diameter – and are intended to provide a more personal, portable dining experience within the market.

To complement the menu, guests seated at the bar will also enjoy beer, wine and select cocktails, including a special blend of Negroni Reserva – chef and owner Luca Varuni’s favorite Italian cocktail – on tap. As dedicated to crafting the beverage menu as he is the pizzas, Varuni remains true to the authenticity of the traditional beverage and the inherent meaning of the title “Reserva” in Italian culture by sourcing the best ingredients, featuring London Dry Gin, Antica Formula, and Campari. It’s a bit bitter for our taste, but if this is your thing, go for it. Varuni Napoli Morningside will also begin serving the beverage, making the two restaurants the only venues in Atlanta to offer the Negroni on tap year-round.

Drawing inspiration from Varuni’s Italian upbringing, the new restaurant will continue to exhibit the authentic, Neapolitan pizza-making tradition while providing guests with fun, interactive experiences throughout the week. Authentic is an understatement, as everywhere we go when Varuni Napoli comes up, everyone mentions the pizza in Naples. To make things even better,  each Wednesday evening, guests seated at the bar will enjoy half-priced bottles of wine with the purchase of any artisan pizza. Weekend visitors of the market will also enjoy a unique brunch option, featuring Varuni Napoli’s signature brunch pizza along with mimosas and Bloody Marys on Sunday afternoons.

Varuni Napoli KSM will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The vivacious nature of the new concept will complement the vibrant culture and urban atmosphere of Krog Street Market and its patrons.
